Alex And His New Home

Alex and his new home.

Alex the kitten was fast asleep dreaming of his brothers and sisters when a little girl’s voice awakened him. “Good morning Alex” the girl said.

Alex had forgotten that it was only yesterday the girl brought him home with her.

Alex looked up at the girl and gave a big stretch. The little girl reached down and scratched him on his favorite spot - between the ears near the back of his head. He started purring and was soon back asleep on the soft pillow.

Alex was startled awake by:
‘clomp, clomp, clomp, clomp’ and a ‘slam’
“What was that?” thought alex.

In a panic, Alex jumped from the bed to the window and saw the girl getting in a car.
“Oh no, where is she going? She forgot about me.”

His tiny paws scratched at the window trying to get out. It made a horrible sound but
the window stayed closed.

Alex jumped down and scurried to the front door. He slid to a stop bumping into the huge door. He put his little paw underneath and pulled with all his might. Alex lept at the door knob too. He had seen people use the knob before and figured he should try the same. But the door was just too big.

What could he do? Where did the girl go? Alex remembered his mom was in the house next door.

“That’s it! I can go ask mom, she will know what i should do.”

Alex was soon running through the house searching for a way out. He jumped on a chair to get on the counter top and to get to another window.

Alex could see his mom’s house but he just couldn’t get outside. “If i could only figure out how to get through.” alex thought.

“Okay Alex, what would mom do?”

Alex calmed down after remembering her words, “Remember your manners and how to behave like a good cat. You will be fine.”

Knowing the task was going to be difficult, Alex became determined to find a way out of his new home.

He pounced from room to room checking the windows and doors and looked behind everything.

In the kitchen, he looked behind the refrigerator and found only cobwebs.

In the living room, he searched behind the furniture and saw a dirty sock and a spider but no way out.

Alex’s hopes of getting to his mom began to dwindle. Then alex saw a door that was barely open.
“That has to be the way out” Alex exclaimed.

Excitement ran through his little body. He was so excited he slipped on the tile floor running toward the door. He grabbed under the door and pulled. he pulled so hard the door swung open and Alex lost his balance.

Before he new it, Alex was soaring through the air....and landed with a thump.

Confused, Alex shook off the dust and looked around. “Where am I? I haven’t seen a place like this.”

Alex didn’t know it but he was in the basement. It was dark and damp. Luckily he was a cat and cats have exceptional sight in the dark.
